Label your posts

Labels are a way to easily categorize your posts. When you're writing a post, clickLabels on the side and enter the labels you like, separating them with commas. Labels you've used before will show up below, and you can just click them to add them to the post.
When you publish your post, the labels will be listed with it. Clicking any of the labels will take you to a page containing only posts with that label.

Label your posts-Advanced Use

Advanced Use

You can easily change the formatting used here by editing your blog's layout. You can also add a list of all your labels in the sidebar of your blog, sorted alphabetically or by frequency of use.

Labels are handy if you blog about a lot of different subjects, since readers can then choose to view all of your posts on, say, dancing at once. Or politics, or knitting, or whatever you happen to be writing about. If you have a team blog, you could also give each member their own label, so you could easily read all the posts by any one of them. Feel free to come up with other creative new uses as well!
Note: The following characters cannot be used in labels: &<>@!,

Quick Edit Pencil to Blogger Posts

The "Quick Edit" pencil icon provides a link to edit our blog posts while viewing blog pages in our browser.

This function is always present in Blogger's default templates. However, if you have customized your template or are using a non-standard template, you may notice this function is missing from your blog pages.

In this quick tutorial, I'll explain how you can check if the "Quick Edit" function is present in your blog template, and how this can be restored if you find it's missing.

How can I edit the menu of my template?

1. Most templates have a menu that can only be edited from the HTML (Dashboard → Design → Edit HTML or Dashboard → Template → Edit HTML in the new Blogger design). In many cases the code to look for is like:
 <li class='current'><a expr:href='data:blog.homepageUrl'>Home</a></li>
 <li><a expr:href='data:blog.homepageUrl + &quot;feeds/posts/default&quot;'>Posts RSS</a></li>
 <li><a expr:href='data:blog.homepageUrl + &quot;feeds/comments/default&quot;'>Comments RSS</a></li>
 <li><a href='#'>Edit</a></li>
There you can edit the expr:href=’…’ code, with your own links: href=’http://mylink…’. Also see the instructions in your template for more information.
2. Some templates include a link list widget or a pages widget to edit the menu directly from the Dashboard.
  • For link liks widget: Dashboard → Design → Page Elements. Or Dashboard → Layout in the new Blogger design.
  • For pages widget: Posting → Edit pages → New pages. Or Dashboard → Pages → New Page in the new Blogger design.

Change the name of a label

Let's say you have a number of posts with the label Hawaii but you've decided that you'd rather call it Vacation instead. You can't edit the name of a label directly, but there's a simple workaround to accomplish your goal:
  1. Go to the Posts tab for your blog.
  2. Click on the "All labels" drop-down on top-right and select "Hawaii." This will filter the posts, so you'll only see those with the "Hawaii" label.
  3. Click the check box at the top of the list of posts to select all the posts.
  4. Then, click the Label icon and select "Hawaii" to remove the label "Hawaii" from all the posts that are selected.
  5. While the posts are still selected, click the Label icon again and select "Add new label." Then, type in "Vacation."
  6. You're done! Now, all the posts that used to have the label "Hawaii" have the label "Vacation" instead.
